AI consulting and strategy from experts who build what they recommend
AI strategy consulting that ends in a decision rather than a deck. We work out whether the problem needs AI at all, compare build, buy and platform options, and cost the programme before you commit. The people giving the advice are the people who would deliver it.
We work with clients and partners across the globe.
The problem
Getting the strategy right costs less than fixing the build
The expensive decisions in an AI programme are made before anything is built. These are the ones we see most.
-
AI bought for a job custom software would do
The process ran the same way every time. Custom software would have done it at a fraction of the cost.
-
A tool bought before the problem was named
The licence arrived first. The use case was found afterwards, and it did not fit.
-
The use case the board could see
Chosen for visibility rather than payback, so the one with data behind it waited.
-
Nobody checked the data existed
The AI needed three years of clean history. The system held eleven months, in two formats.
-
The agent arrived before the data layer
Work sequenced so the clever part came first and stalled on the plumbing it needed.
-
Ownership left until after the build
Nobody could say who approved what, where data was allowed to go, or what got logged.
Our differentiator
One question we always ask first
Does this problem need AI? We evaluate each use case for measurable value. If custom software achieves the same outcome, we say so in the first conversation, because that costs less to run and consumes less compute. An engagement here can end with a recommendation not to build.
What we cover
AI consulting services that result in a clear path forward
Five things an engagement can cover. What you receive at the end is agreed in the scope, not implied by a slide.
-
Choosing between candidate use cases
Talk to an expertWhere several ideas are on the table, working out which one has data behind it and which one pays back first.
-
Working out what has to happen first
Talk to an expertEstablishing where the business already is against infrastructure, data and skills, and what has to be in place before anything is built.
-
Build, buy, or start from a platform
Talk to an expertWhether the answer is a bespoke build, an existing product, or one of Elev8’s own platforms configured to the problem.
-
Costing an AI programme before it starts
Talk to an expertWhat the build, the infrastructure it runs on and the ongoing support add up to, before a budget is committed.
-
AI governance and policy
Talk to an expertAdvice on your own rules for using AI: who approves what, where data is allowed to go, and what gets logged.
The approach
Our approach to AI strategy for businesses
Six steps, and the engagement can end at any of them with a recommendation not to build. That is what separates it from advice that always ends in a project.
-
The business problem first
What the business is trying to fix, before any technology is discussed. You get the problem written down in a form everyone signs off.
-
What kind of build it is
Whether AI is essential, or custom software achieves the outcome with far less compute. Many stop here with the second answer.
-
What already exists
Systems, data, infrastructure and internal skills assessed against what the problem would need. Gaps named, not glossed.
-
The options and what each costs
Bespoke build, an existing platform, or leaving it alone, with the running cost of each, including support.
-
The recommendation and the order of work
What to do, and what has to happen before each part of it. Data layer before AI, infrastructure before deployment.
-
What happens next
Either Elev8 builds it, or you take the plan to someone else. We say that plainly, and the plan is written so either works.
Why Elev8
Why businesses choose Elev8 for strategy and consulting
Advice from a firm that also builds has to survive being built. That changes what gets recommended.
-
The people giving the advice also deliver
A recommendation has to survive being built by the person who made it, so it is not made lightly.
-
Build, buy and platform compared by a firm that does all three
We build bespoke, we integrate products, and we ship our own platforms. No option is the house answer.
-
Infrastructure and running costs from our sister company
The figure for hosting and hardware comes from our sister company DS Total Solutions, which would supply it.
-
An engagement can end with a recommendation not to build
The report says so plainly, with what to do instead.
-
The advice covers what happens after going live
What happens after going live is part of the plan: who supports the system, and how changes to it are agreed.
-
Your sector's rules are part of the assessment
What your regulator or auditor will accept is checked while the strategy is written, not discovered at review.
Platforms

When the recommendation lands on one of these, the build starts from it. The product pages carry the detail.

Common questions
AI consulting questions, answered plainly
Everything you need to know about working with Elev8.
What do we get at the end of a consulting engagement?
A written recommendation: the problem as agreed, whether it needs AI, what already exists against what it needs, the build, buy and platform options with the running cost of each, and the order of work. It is written so that Elev8 or anyone else can deliver it.
You build and sell your own platforms. How is the advice independent?
Because we also build bespoke systems and integrate other vendors’ products, no single answer is the house answer. Every option is costed side by side, and an engagement can end with a recommendation not to build, or with custom software where AI is not essential.
Do we have to use Elev8 to build what you recommend?
No. The plan is written to be delivered by whoever you choose. If you ask us to build it, we already know the systems from writing the plan, but nothing in the recommendation depends on that.
We already have an AI strategy. Can you review it instead of starting again?
Yes. A review runs the same six steps against the document you have: the problem it names, whether the use cases need AI, what data and infrastructure exist, and what it would cost to run. You get a marked up version with what stands, what does not, and why.
Does our data need to be in order before you can advise?
No. The state of the data is one of the things the engagement assesses, and the recommendation can be to fix it before building anything on it. If that is the answer, the plan says what to fix first, what can wait, and what it costs, and data orchestration is the next step.
How is a consulting engagement priced?
After a short call, once the scope is clear. The price depends on how many use cases are on the table and how many systems have to be assessed, not on the size of your company.
What makes Elev8's approach to AI responsible?
We believe in purposeful intelligence, using AI only where it creates measurable value. Our team carefully evaluates each use case to minimise unnecessary GPU consumption and computational load. When AI is not essential, we use custom software to achieve the same outcomes, reducing carbon footprint and promoting sustainable technology development.
Tell us about your business needs
Describe the problem, not the technology. We will tell you in the first conversation whether it needs AI, and what to do if it does not.
